Propane Safety

Here at Tripoli Propane, safety is of utmost importance. Our technicians are trained to perform all services with extra care and handle propane equipment responsibly.  All of our technicians and drivers are CETP certified and receives ongoing safety training.

As with all other natural gases, it is important that you are aware of the potential danger that could arise when propane safety precautions are not followed. We want you to feel comfortable and knowledgeable when using propane. Interruption of Service

In the event of a planned interruption of service, you must provide your propane retailer with a notice of your plans at least seven (7) days in advance.  If the interruption of service is due to an emergency replacement, repair, or servicing, then you must notify your propane retailer as soon as possible, but in no event later than twenty-four (24) hours after the repair or service is completed.

Examples of Interruption of Service Include:

Planned repair, replacement, addition to, removal of, or service to propane gas piping or pipe fittings; pressure regulators; or replacing devices that use propane, such as a stove, furnace, hot water heater, dryer‚ or any other propane run appliance or device.

Emergency repair, replacement, or servicing of propane gas piping or fittings; pressure regulators; or replacement of devices that user propane, such as a stove, furnace, hot water heater, dryer, or any other propane run appliance or device.

Running out of propane gas for any reason.  This practice should be avoided at all costs.  Not only could it be potentially dangerous it could prove to be costly as well.  Costs that could and should be avoided in the case of a run out are service charges, possible repairs, and any other fees that could occur due to this very avoidable circumstance.

What To Do If You Smell Gas

NO FLAMES OR SPARKS! Immediately put out all smoking materials and other open flames.  Do not operate lights, appliances, telephones or cell phones.  Flames or sparks from these sources can trigger an explosion or a fire.

LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY! Get everyone out of the building or area where you suspect gas is leaking.

SHUT OFF THE GAS! Turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank if it is safe to do so.  To close the valve, turn it to the right (clockwise).

REPORT THE LEAK! From a neighbor's home or other nearby building away form the gas leak, call your propane retailer right away.  If you can't reach your propane retailer, call 911 or your local fire department.

DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA until your propane retailer, emergency responder, or qualified service technician determines that it is safe to do so.

GET YOUR SYSTEM CHECKED! Before you attempt to use any of your propane appliances, your propane retailer or a qualified service technician must check your entire system to ensure that it is leak-free.
